Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | 1753 new cases, one death

Quebec reported 1753 new cases of COVID-19 and one death on Sunday. Hospitalizations are on the rise.

The Department of Health and Social Services has identified 1,753 new cases of COVID-19. New infections reported on Sunday bring the daily average to 1,621.

The most recent data in the province show one new death.

The number of hospitalizations has increased to a total of 262 people hospitalized now, 11 more than the day before. There are now 68 people in intensive care, an increase of five.

The number of tests carried out on December 11 amounted to 38,153. The positivity rate is 4.9%, which is close to the 5% threshold recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Resumption of vaccination

The Ministry of Health indicates that 15,000 additional injections were given in 5 to 11 year olds and 6,841 third doses were given in people 70 years and older.

To date, just over 263,000 young people aged 5 to 11 have had their first dose, or 40% of this age group.

So far, 87% of the population aged 5 years and over have received their first dose, 81% their second and 5% their third.
