Less than a week after the stabbing in Annecy (Haute-Savoie) of young children by a man, a Syrian refugee, the right and the far right denounce a “migration bankruptcy”. For his part, Benoît Hamon, director general of the European NGO Singa, which specializes in the integration of refugees and migrants through entrepreneurship, said on Monday June 12 on franceinfo that “the responsibility of political leaders is not to exploit the fear and emotion aroused by this event (…) to draw the consequences for asylum policies in general in Europe”.
According to the former Socialist Minister of National Education, “Tomorrow migration will not be the problem, but perhaps the solution” to preserve “these ways of life to which we are attached”lifestyles that are “a certain idea of the rule of law, democracy, gender equality, but also of a high level of social protection or public service”. Benoît Hamon recalls that“today there are territories in Europe and in France where there are no more doctors. There are territories where classes are closing, where there is no longer any public service”.
“Let’s observe that 7.7% of the population in France is foreign. Of all the business creators, 15% are foreigners.”

“There is therefore an overrepresentation of foreigners in business creation, which shows their contribution to the common good and to economic wealth”notes the director general of the NGO Singa. “When we accept to look reality in the face, we observe that our pension system, today, is largely balanced by contributions from foreigners”says Benoît Hamon. “If these foreigners did not contribute, you would have to leave at 67 or 68”.
