(Québec) A cyclist lost his life after a fall near the Grand Théâtre de Québec.
It was a call to 911 on Sunday, around 4:40 a.m., which alerted the emergency services to the presence of the victim in a pool of blood on rue Jacques-Parizeau.
“Preliminary information given to call dispatch workers indicates that a young man would be unconscious on the ground and that he would have significant bleeding,” said the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) in a press release. .
“Witnesses to the event also mention having seen the victim on a bicycle take a bad fall from a height,” said the SPVQ press release.
Resuscitation maneuvers were performed on the cyclist, a 23-year-old man, but he was pronounced dead on the spot.
SPVQ investigators and forensic identification technicians were called to the scene to better understand the circumstances surrounding this event.
“For the moment, the preferred thesis is that of an accidental gesture, although the investigation is still ongoing”.
The SPVQ investigation is continuing.
