The president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly denies having wanted to instrumentalize the knife attack in Annecy.
Aurore Bergé, president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly and deputy for Yvelines, declared on Sunday June 11 in Political Questions on France Inter, franceinfo and Le Monde that she had no “no problem recognizing a clumsiness”, but she wouldn’t takes “no longer lessons of dignity, neither by the extreme right, nor from the extreme left”.
The MP has been at the center of criticism since Thursday, June 8. While the Liot bill was being discussed in the Hemicycle, Aurore Bergé denounced the “battle of ragpickersto the National Assembly “totally out of step with the dread that overwhelms our country” moments after the knife attack in Annecy (Haute-Savoie).
The group leader has been accused of politicizing and instrumentalizing the drama of Annecy by the opposition. “I sincerely did not at all have the impression of politicizing. We were all humanly overwhelmed by a wave of dread. We found ourselves in this hemicycle again completely overheated, hysterical. We felt out of step and I had the impression of not saying anything other than that”, she justified herself.
Harassment on social networks
The president of the group has been strongly criticized even in her political camp. “I don’t feel like I’ve lost my nerves,” she says. Aurore Berge “guest” his detractors to take his “place” and “we’ll see if they would have done better,” she replied.
“I have no problem recognizing clumsiness. I didn’t try to hide. If I was misunderstood, then I was clumsy. On the other hand, I wouldn’t take any lessons of dignity, neither by the extreme right, nor from the extreme left”, she pointed out.
Aurore Bergé sends the accusations of instrumentalization to extremes: “I experienced a kind of pack of harassment on social networks. In fact, the excitement happens on social networks. It comes from deputies from La France insoumise and far-right deputies who all tweet almost the same thing”, she charged.
“I do not believe that the attitude which has been that of La France insoumise for a year really borders on elegance, calm, serenity, dignity”, she added.
