A car hit a group of people who were going to attend a wedding this Saturday June 10 in Cléry-Saint-André in Loiret. Eight people were injured. Three of them are in absolute urgency.
It is a very serious accident which occurred this Saturday, June 10 in Cléry-Saint-André in the Loiret. Around 1:30 p.m., a car hit a group of pedestrians in front of the town hall of the town. These are wedding guests on their way to the ceremony at City Hall.
Three people are in absolute emergency, five others in relative emergency, indicates the Loiret prefecture. In total, the Loiret firefighters took care of seventy people, invited to the wedding or witnesses to the accident, who were badly shocked.
A major backup system has been put in place. The city center of Cléry-Saint-André is completely cordoned off to allow the emergency services to intervene. 70 firefighters and around twenty vehicles are on site as well as 3 SMUR (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Structure) from Orleans and Blois.
Given the number of victims, an advanced medical post was set up by the firefighters. A departmental operational center has also been activated in the Loiret prefecture.
According to the first findings of the relief, it would not be an intentional act. The driver of the Renault Clio who hit the crowd is said to have lost control of his vehicle or felt unwell at the wheel.
The mayor of Cléry-Saint-André is not present in his town but has been informed of the accident.
Update 4:45 p.m.: According to new information sent by the prefecture, three people are now in absolute emergency, 5 in relative emergency. They were transported to the Center Hospitalier Régional d’Orléans and to the Oréliance clinic in Saran. The witnesses of the accident, 70 people for the majority invited to the wedding, were gathered in a communal hall. The Loiret prefecture has activated a medico-psychological emergency unit to assist them.
