In one year, prices have increased by 10%. First reason: inflation, which would force producers to reassess their margins, at the risk of selling at a loss. “With the increase in technical costs, salaries, access to raw materials, the cost of a show has clearly increased between 20 and 30%“says Malika Seguineau, director of the national producers’ union.
The impact of negotiations between producers and stars
Some stars would also demand higher fees to compensate for streaming losses. And when the productions fight over Madonna, the negotiations can go very high. “Everyone wants to have their star, there is an impact on the price of tickets“, explains Angelo Gopee, director of Live Nation. No one knows if the increase will last, but the producers assure that France remains one of the countries where concert prices are the most accessible.
