Financial assistance will be allocated to evacuees due to the forest fires

Quebec announces that compensation will be paid to people affected by the forest fires, namely $1,500 per main residence evacuated.

The Minister of Public Security, François Bonnardel, will make the official announcement during a press briefing on Friday in Quebec.

Since May 29, more than 15,000 people have had to evacuate their homes due to wildfires. These mainly affected the regions of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Chaudière-Appalaches, Côte-Nord, Mauricie, Nord-du-Québec and Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
