In just a few hours, New York (United States) found itself drowned in a nightmarish atmosphere, Thursday, June 8. A yellow then orange veil covers the city, a consequence of the smoke from the fires coming from Canada and which now masks the tops of the skyscrapers. “You can’t even see the World Trade Center“, laments a resident. Stunned French tourists also film the heavy sky of Times Square.
All delayed flights
In New York, the air is almost unbreathable. The authorities have advised residents to limit their movements and any physical activity. “It made me cough all day long (…). This is the kind of cough I had when I smoked“, says Jack Wright, a retired lawyer. The air quality standard has gone from “harmful” to “very harmful”, unheard of. All flights to New York have been delayed.
