Buffalo Bills | Damar Hamlin participates in a first training this spring

(Orchard Park) Helmet on his head, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin took part in his first training session this spring on Tuesday, nearly six months after a near death in an NFL game.

Hamlin seemed elated and very happy to be able to wave to the cameras pointed in his direction during a stretching session that preceded the Bills practice. Soon after, he acted as a blocker for the punter in various phases of special teams play.

Hamlin had been limited to solitary exercise and stretching for the past two weeks, as part of a voluntary fitness camp run by the Bills. The 25-year-old has previously said he wants to restart his NFL career after suffering cardiac arrest and requiring resuscitation on the field during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2.

At this time, the Bills have not issued an update regarding Hamlin’s status at camp.
