I have my little theory about the destructive behavior of these beasts: they are idle! Like any animal, the squirrel […] search for food. However, you no longer need to look far. Food sources are limitless, with all those ripped bags of garbage often containing organic matter, despite the efforts of municipal authorities to promote the brown bin. Putting bags on the street anytime and using bags instead of closed garbage cans is a godsend for these furry rats.
So they take care of what they can: destruction of vegetable gardens, certain flowers and flower buds, garlands of Christmas lights, and so on.
Is it illusory to hope that citizens take their responsibilities in terms of waste management so as not to encourage the proliferation of rats and squirrels?
