Heather Foster Kirkpatrick and Dylan Konrad Obront have been part of the pair Sorry Girls, affiliated with Montreal outfit Arbutus Records, since 2015. The duo present today Cheer !, a second album which, for once, and without wanting to sink into puns that are too complacent to be honest, deserves a round of applause. Pieces with catchy refrains and lyrics guided by a feeling of palpable freedom and above all, a little, no, a lot of charm, madly, passionately, even. This is the magic recipe for a deliciously pop record. Note that the duo collaborated with their colleagues from label Austin Tufts, drummer of Braids, and Mitch Davis, who notably blows into his saxophone for several tracks, including Pillar of Salt — a bit dramatic, as we like to revel in while singing at the top of our lungs for a featuring imaginary with Sorry Girls. Special mention also for the hymns to sunny days Parade And Aftermath.
