Foreign interference | New Democrat MP claims to be a target of the Chinese government

(OTTAWA) New Democrat MP Jenny Kwan says the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) told her she was a current target of the Chinese government.

The member for Vancouver says she was informed on Friday by the spy agency.

She says CSIS informed her that she had been identified by China in the 2019 federal election and remained a target because of her criticism of the Chinese government.

Mme Kwan says he cannot reveal details of Beijing’s alleged actions without breaking security laws.

She emphasizes that she will continue to speak on behalf of immigrants, the diaspora community and human rights.

Mme Kwan is the latest lawmaker to reveal she received a briefing from CSIS about being targeted by the Chinese government.
