Education, a priority for the CAQ?

During the last election campaign, Mr. Legault announced that education would be his government’s priority and that he would be accompanied by a “dream” team to carry out his mandates.

With the recent clumsy and inappropriate statements of Mr. Drainville, doubt has settled in several spheres of society, even in the education network that he is supposed to support in a post-pandemic period.

Our Minister of Education ignores, by his indifference, that our education system creates inequalities based on the selection of students and the income of parents in the offer of stimulating projects for all students in Quebec.

Currently, in a large majority of school service centres, students are not entitled to motivating and fulfilling paths because their parents do not have the budget to finance the required equipment, students do not have the grades necessary to register and are therefore discriminated against and, finally, the offer of services varies from one region to another while favoring urban areas, which means that students have to leave their community in order to continue their studies in these particular projects. In a way, our school system, by creating inequalities at school, also creates social inequalities and marginalizes students and parents who are already marginalized.

We produce the unemployed of tomorrow and those excluded from social life, we needlessly deprive ourselves of the contributions of these people for the vitality of our nation.

Our school system is aging very badly, it is on life support. Stop adding decorative Christmas balls, it’s the tree that has the problem.

Are you still so proud to be a Quebecer, Mr. Legault?
