Le Havre is still wasting, the teams at the bottom of the table are fighting back… Total suspense before the last day

Leader, Le Havre missed Friday a second opportunity to ensure its rise in Ligue 1 this week, by drawing at Bastia (1-1).

The script is too well put together. The penultimate day of Ligue 2, Friday May 26, did not deliver any verdicts for the season, and offered an even greater thriller for the last multiplex of the season at the top of the table, as in the area of relegation, on the 38th and final day. Le Havre got closer to the climb but missed a new opportunity to validate the Ligue 2 title. Behind, Metz took advantage of Bordeaux’s misstep to snatch second place from the Girondins. Further down, six teams can still occupy the last two relegation seats.

Metz Double Bordeaux

One day from the end, the HAC is ahead of Metz (2nd) and Bordeaux (3rd) by three points: everything will therefore be decided on the last day next Friday. Bordeaux, which carries out the very bad operation of the day by losing 1-0 in Annecy, will receive the badly classified Rodez (16th) and Metz will welcome Bastia (4th). Le Havre, which has been leading the race since the 14th day, but remained on two worrying defeats in a row, will play the accession match on its ground against the relegated Dijon (18th).

In Annecy, the Haut-Savoyards scored in the 9th minute through Vincent Pajot, then the Girondins ran the entire game after the score, systematically colliding with goalkeeper Florian Escales, author of an exceptional match. Bordeaux had been second since the 24th day and undefeated for five matches (four wins, one draw). At the same time, Metz went to inflict a seventh defeat in a row on Sochaux with a goal from Cheikh Sabaly (49th). The Sochaux, in total perdition and diminished by many absences, finished at ten after the exclusion of Skelly Alvaro (61st), guilty of a violent tackle on Ablie Jallow.

In Bastia, Le Havre had a new scare, only equalizing in the 89th minute by Samuel Grandsir. But this point snatched late in Corsica will perhaps be worth gold next Friday. The Norman club should indeed find the elite after fourteen seasons in Ligue 2. The year of its relegation, in 2009, the French champion in Ligue 1 was called … Bordeaux.

Six clubs for two places in National, Concarneau and Dunkirk go up to L2

The suspense also remains at the bottom of the table since six teams stand in three points. Only Nîmes (19th) and Niort (20th) are already condemned.

The best operation of the day, however, is to the credit of Pau who temporarily extricated himself from the relegation zone by going to win 3-2 at Rodez (16th). The Palois are now fifteenth but with a single point ahead of Rodez and Laval (17th) and two over Dijon (18th). Concarneau and Dunkirk, for their part, ensured their promotion at the end of the last day of National.
