Head of Commercial Affairs | Teck Resources appoints Ian Anderson

Teck Resources on Friday announced the promotion of Ian Anderson to chief commercial officer as the mining company continues to work on a plan to separate its metallurgical operations from those related to steelmaking coal.

Mr. Anderson has been in the role since May 16, succeeding Réal Foley, who is expected to help with the transition until his retirement at the end of November.

Mr. Anderson was most recently Vice President of Logistics at Teck.

The Vancouver-based company also announced that André Stark has been named Vice President of Marketing and Logistics for Base Metals, while Michael O’Shaughnessy has been named Vice President of Marketing and Logistics for coal.

Teck overturned a shareholder vote last month when it became clear it did not have enough support for its proposal to split its business into two separate groups. Instead, the company has indicated that it will pursue what it believes to be “a simpler, more direct split.”

Swiss company Glencore, which made an unsolicited takeover bid for Teck that was rejected by the Canadian miner’s board, had urged shareholders to reject the split proposal.
