The seaside resorts are preparing to welcome tourists, while the list of beaches under the “Blue Flag” label was unveiled on Thursday 25 May. The label guarantees quality water and beaches, even if some municipalities have decided to do without it.

Four friends enjoy the beach To Royan (Charente Maritime) for its proximity, but above all because it has obtained the “Blue Flag” label, which is a guarantee of quality for them. A label for candidate municipalities which reward water quality, waste management, for sites that respect the environment. “We carry out clean beach operations”explains the mayor of the city.
Occitania leads the number of “Blue Flag” labels obtained
This distinction does not necessarily weigh when choosing your bathing spot. “We especially look if the weather is nice”, explains a local resident. Even if for the moment visitors are rare at Lake Saint-Pardoux (Haute-Vienne), in 14 degree water, no need for a “blue flag” to attract nearly 300,000 visitors.
