Jeopardy Masters Tournament! | Mattea Roach finishes second

Mattea Roach of Toronto was able to make it to the finals of the masters tournament Jeopardy!Wednesday in the United States, but did not win the first title in this great championship of the famous television quiz show.

By finishing second on Wednesday with a cumulative total of 41,685 points over two games, Mattea Roach still won a prize pool of US$250,000.

James Holzhauer scored 43,795 points to win the tournament and the US$500,000 top prize, while fellow American Matt Amodio came in third, to take home US$150,000.

The Masters Tournament Jeopardy! pits six recent champions against each other in hour-long episodes. The candidates who accumulate the most points advance to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and then the final.

The round robin came at a difficult time on Tuesday for Mattea Roach, who pointed out during filming for her semi-final that her father had just died. However, his father was largely responsible for his ability to initially participate in this quiz, by instilling in him a taste for learning and intellectual curiosity.

Mattea Roach thanked all those who had agreed to interrupt filming to allow him to return home and grieve on this most difficult day of his life so far.
