A wave of grossophobic comments. Youtuber and influencer Léna Mahfouf, known as Léna Situations, was the target of comments criticizing her physical appearance when she first climbed the stairs at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday May 22 for the screening of the first episodes of the series TheIdol.

For her first climb of the steps, the 25-year-old Frenchwoman wore a Vivienne Westwood dress that revealed her legs. The dissemination of these images provoked a series of grossophobic comments and insults on social networks. “Too big thighs, too bad”, “it looks like a turkey from Pierre Dodu”, “too many burgers”, have, for example, written Internet users against the influencer.

The young woman denounced these behaviors the day after climbing the stairs. In a story on Instagram, she broadcast several of the grossophobic remarks targeting her on social networks. “I’ve been more or less comfortable with my body…until the last few months. I’ve gained weight I’m aware of that, my body type has changed, I’m aware of that, but the internet realized it before me and would like to share it”, said Léna Mahfouf, already the victim of harassment on several occasions online.

“For two years, I made the choice to no longer use filters in order to show an honest and unmodified image, something real. I try to make my platforms a place where I feel confident enough to share with 4 million people my facets with which I am not 100% at peace”, she continued, adding that she “try to speak only to a community which, too, is in this desire to send positive”. Many messages of support followed.
