What does the military programming law discussed from today by the deputies in the National Assembly contain? This is the subject of the Talk. Every evening, from 6 p.m., Ludovic Pauchant and his guests debate with Internet users on the franceinfo Twitch channel.

As the war in Ukraine continues, the military programming bill (LPM) arrives at the National Assembly from Monday, May 22. For fifteen days, the 1,700 amendments will be examined. Modernization of the army, improvement in the treatment of troops… What does the 2024-2030 military programming law contain?

Ludovic Pauchant receives Jean-Pierre Maulnydeputy director of the Institute of International and Strategic Relations (IRIS), specialist in armament issues to discuss it.

A big increase in the budget

The military programming law plans 413 billion euros in military spending until 2030. This investment has been described as historic by the government in a context marked by the war in Ukraine. Between 2017 and 2030, the budget of the armed forces will indeed have doubled.

The budget must a priori be allocated to solar defense, cyber defense and intelligence. The issue of recruitment is also central to the bill. The LPM provides for the creation of 6,000 jobs, particularly in new defense professions.

Join us from 6 p.m. Monday to Friday on the franceinfo Twitch channel to participate in Manon Mella’s Talk. An hour of exchange, clarification, and debate around topical and social issues.
