At the end of 2022, this group had already filed 127 requests for compensation relating to unreplaced lesson hours before 17 administrative courts in France, asking for fifty euros per day of lessons lost in the first degree and ten euros per hour of course not given in the second degree. “We see that many families in France today are unable to have full-time lessons for their children”declares to franceinfo Me Joyce Pitcher.

1,500 parent files in 2022

“We are asking the State to compensate the families for the damage suffered. The goal is not to enrich us, but to establish a new balance of power with the State to demand the hiring of teachers”, adds the lawyer. The lawyer, along with one of her colleagues Me Louis Le Foyer de Costil, received in 2022 “1,500 files from parents, including 200 files solid enough to open proceedings, at all levels”.

Last January, the Minister of National Education declared on BFMTV that the“we lose fifteen million hours of lessons annually linked to uninsured replacements”. On France Inter, in April, he added that“in terms of short-term replacement, we need a small third of volunteers”referring in particular to his “pact” providing up to 500 euros net per month for teachers who agree to undertake additional assignments. In addition to this new legal action, the collective #OnVeutDesProfs now wants to have “a referent or a referent in each academy”.
