The driver of a van will have to face justice after “voluntarily hitting” two people who were on a motorcycle, Sunday morning in Saint-Eustache. According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which arrested the man on the spot, it would be a “road rage event”.
It was shortly before 10 a.m. that the event occurred on Highway 640, eastbound, at kilometers 12 and 14, not far from Arthur-Sauvé Boulevard in Saint-Eustache.
According to information gathered by witnesses to the scene, “two occupants of a three-wheeled motorcycle were deliberately hit by a van in what appears to be a road rage event,” the SQ said on Sunday.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries. The seriousness of these injuries is still unknown, but no life would be in danger.
For his part, the driver of the van was immediately arrested by the police. He should in particular be charged with “dangerous driving causing bodily harm and armed assault”, underlined the police force, which has also sent a specialized collision investigator on the spot.
A vast security perimeter has been erected and a portion of Highway 640 has also been closed to automobile traffic in the eastbound direction, the place being until further notice considered “as a crime scene” by the SQ.
