Review of …let a nightmare become so true | Fuudge: the main course

The third album of the heavy rock band of the hour in Quebec is that of the maturity reached for the work of its leader.

Two months that we raise it in the ears a few times each week while waiting for its official release. A happy privilege that has been granted to us, of course. And if it’s not the first time that we’ve been given such a gift, this time we didn’t regret any of the listenings to this …that a nightmare becomes so truethe third “real” album from Fuudge, a Montreal band led by self-taught David Bujold, who signs the lyrics, music, production, plays guitar, bass, drums, and so much more.

The manitou is here at the top of his game. And his study of genres. Because Bujold knows his rock. Above all, the heavy: he propels his musical actions towards post punk, then noise, returns to his favorite field, stoner rock, before dazzling us with his love of thrash metal (hello flights and guitar solos in We love saints!), noise, synthesized aerial rock and grunge.

This new Fuudge is generous in the musical genres offered. And with sounds so professionally deployed, Bujold amalgamates texts – firebrands – current, denouncing a society in drift, individual, where the public image and the love of the virtual are the enemies to be fought.

Humans are still animals / I try hard not to remember / You think it’s normal / Even if your future is ruined.

Lyrics of the song erase death

Let’s dare the culinary aside: if we had delighted with the first two services offered by the Montreal quartet – the albums Matricide And Fruit-God –, this third course is that of the resistance for Fuudge.

Satisfied? Oh no! Come on, another another listen!
