After 10 movies, we know what to expect from a new chapter in the series Fast and Furious : More fast cars, big explosions and family members than in the previous one.
FastX does not break with tradition. Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez – FF’s parents – even hinted at the Rome premiere that she’ll be in at least two more movies. To sum up very briefly the plot from the beginning, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his “family” have gone from mechanical amateurs and street racers to professional spies for the Agency. Over the missions, they made many friends and some enemies. The most recent is Dante Reyes, played by a particularly flamboyant Jason Momoa. He wants to avenge his father Hernan (Joaquim de Almeida), who died during the events of Fast Five.
If you haven’t seen all the movies, don’t worry. A scene in a room lined with screens is dedicated to recapping key moments from the past few years. Despite the apparent complexity of Justin Lin, Dan Mazeau and Zach Dean’s storyline, and then the abundance of characters and locations visited, there’s always someone, often Tej Parker (Chris Bridges, aka Ludacris), to explain what’s going on. just happened or what could happen.

The “family” does not spend much time together in FastX.
The structure of FastX is very simple. Breathtaking action scene followed by tearful dialogue about loyalty, friendship or lost loved ones, and we start again. Each of these segments could be the first or the last of the film.
Enjoy FastX is also very simple: you have to be attentive without thinking. We are thus rewarded with pursuits of all kinds, magnificently filmed and orchestrated. The originality and quality of these scenes are remarkable.
It is also essential to forget the laws of gravity and the limits of a motor vehicle, but after so many films, it should already be assumed.
Momoa the Magnificent
Director Louis Leterrier (the first two The Transporter, The Incredible Hulk) obviously gave Jason Momoa carte blanche. In fact, we imagine that he may have first asked her to act out his scenes in the manner of the intimidating Khal Drogo of Game Of Thrones, then to offer an increasingly eccentric version. It is this one that was mainly retained during the editing. Dante is menacing at times, but is generally more outlandish than Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. It is highly entertaining.

The series’ familiar faces are all separated into small groups in this first installment of the trilogy. Dom meets newcomers Tess (Brie Larson, whose game is clearly above average) and Isabel (Daniela Melchior). Uncle Jakob (John Cena) has custody of Dom’s (Leo Abello Perry) young son. Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) reunites for better or for worse with the likable villain Cipher (Charlize Theron). Tej, Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Han (Sung Kang) make up the quartet of comedic, resourceful idiots. There are others, but let’s reserve a few surprises.
It’s not easy to evaluate FastX. For two hours and twenty minutes, we get what we’ve been asking for from these films since they’ve been around. However, we are also overwhelmed. We are swimming in sauce, as more sauce falls on us. It’s not unpleasant, but it’s a lot. Despite what I wrote above, I had to think to write this review. FastX does not emerge as a winner from this reflection. Refrain from doing the same and you should have fun.
