(Paris) Michel Houellebecq’s new novel to be published in January will benefit from a production inspired by German books, and its author does not intend to promote it to journalists, we learned on Friday from a source close to the author.
The title of this eighth novel, in bookstores on January 7, at 26 euros for 736 pages, remains secret. And it should not be disclosed before the end of December, according to this source interviewed by AFP.
On the website of Flammarion and on the commercial sites remains indicated “Title to come”.
The publisher Flammarion has already revealed at the beginning of November that this volume will be released “in a hardcover edition, with a hard cover, with a slice and a colored bookmark”.
Michel Houellebecq had explained himself, during a conference at the Sorbonne on December 2, which the press had not been informed of, that his model was the books published in Germany, which were heavier, more rigid and more solid.
“He detailed it very well to the Flammarion sales representatives. They said to themselves: why not for this title and for others? The result is books made to last, ”said the source close to the author.
Flammarion released three novels in this format in mid-November: Extension of the field of wrestling, Elementary particles and Platform.
As with the release of Serotonin in January 2019, Michel Houellebecq planned not to grant any media interview to discuss his latest work.
