President Emmanuel Macron wants “focus” two billion euros in tax cuts on “middle class” by 2027, “when the budgetary trajectory allows it in this five-year period”, he announced, Monday, May 15, on TF1. “JI asked the government to make me proposals”, he added.
The Head of State did not specify the measures envisaged. “I’ve asked the government to work on it, but I don’t want to close doors here because there may be smart things to do on some of the charges you pay, the contributions you pay when you’re employee”he pointed out.
“Income between 1,500 and 2,500 euros”
When could the tax cuts come in? “When the budgetary trajectory allows it in this five-year term, in this term of office”, replied Emmanuel Macron without further details. The Head of State had already insisted on the “middle classes” in a newspaper interview opinion, Sunday, quoting “those who are too rich to be helped and not rich enough to live well”, with some “income between 1,500 and 2,500 euros”.
This mantra has also been hammered home for several weeks by the Minister of Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal. Very unpopular after the forceps adoption of the pension reform, Emmanuel Macron embarked on an economic sequence, focused on reindustrialization, with the announcement of several investments, particularly in Hauts-de-France.
