A 16-year-old cyclist was in stable but “critical” condition after being hit by a motorist in Lévis on Saturday evening. The police have opened an investigation, but for the moment do not retain any criminal element in the file.
The Service de police de la Ville de Lévis (SPVL) says it was called to the scene of the collision around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, not far from the corner of Route du Président-Kennedy and Avenue des Ruisseaux. , in the Pintendre sector.
Upon arrival, the first patrol officers located a 16-year-old cyclist, who allegedly suffered head trauma and broken bones. “She was transported to the Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus in Quebec, where at the start of the day, her condition was stable but still critical,” Sergeant David Francœur, of the SPVL, said on Sunday.
Investigators from the police force, assisted by reconstitution officers from the Sûreté du Québec, were sent to the scene to shed light on this event. In particular, they made a request to view the video tapes of surveillance cameras located nearby.
“We are not ruling anything out for the moment, but it really seems to lean towards the thesis of the accident. In other words, there is nothing criminal so far, even if the investigation is still ongoing on our side, ”continued Mr. Francœur on this subject.
The motorist, for his part, did not suffer any injuries, but was treated on the spot after suffering a nervous shock. The police say the man cooperated with their services throughout the evening, in addition to assisting the victim at the time of the incident.
