This cyclone is the most powerful for more than ten years in the Bay of Bengal.

They took some things and fled. In Bangladesh and Burma, thousands of people took shelter, Sunday, May 14, before the passage of the powerful cyclone Mocha. Accompanied by strong winds, blowing at nearly 200 km/h, the storm uprooted trees, caused a major tidal surge in coastal areas and washed away sheet metal houses in camps for displaced Rohingyas.

Mocha intensified to the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane, the highest classification on the Saffir-Simpson scale. The Myanmar Red Cross has warned in a statement that it “prepared to respond to a major emergency”. “All the Rohingyas in the camps are in danger”alerted the Deputy Commissioner for Refugees of Bangladesh, Shamsud Douza, while a million Burmese refugees live in the country. Here is the extent of the disaster in photos.
