Charles Starkweather and Carl Ann Fugate

Caril Ann Fugate was 13 when she met 18-year-old Charles Starkweather. Shortly after they meet, Caril drops out of school. His parents disapprove of this relationship. On January 21, 1958, Charles went to her house and did not find her. So he kills the girl’s parents, then strangles her 2-year-old half-sister. Caril Ann will know about the murders but will not prevent her from loving him and following him in his madness. She is the youngest convict in US history.

In total, they will kill 11 people. Starkweather was executed on April 24, 1959. His companion was sentenced to only 20 years in prison. Their story gave rise to two films “The Savage Ballad” and “Born Killers” by Oliver Stone.

Fred and Rosemary West

At the age of 15, Rosemary met Fred West, they married in 1972. Aged 29 and 19, they raped and killed Fred’s first daughter, Charmaine, aged 8. Fred’s modus operandi is the same: abduction, murder, dismemberment and rape of children.

Twelve young girls will be victims, even their own 8-year-old daughter. They are all systematically dismembered, even decapitated. The end of the massacre ends in 1994, when they are arrested.

Charlene and Gerald Gallego

Improbable but true, Charlene Williams had everything to succeed. She had an above-average IQ and came from a middle-class background. In 1977 she met Gerald Gallego in a bar in Saramento. He already has several rapes to his credit. This will not disturb Charlène who falls in love. “For love”, Charlene coaxes and brings women – mostly teenage girls – so that her husband can rape and kill them.

In all, a dozen girls will pass. The couple was arrested in 1984. In her defense, she says she acted under duress from her husband. She will be sentenced to only 16 years in prison. Gerald is sentenced to death, but he will die of cancer before his execution.

Ian Brady and Myra Hindley

The terrible couple met in 1961. Myra fell under the spell of Ian Brady and his macabre ideas.

Their first murder as a couple is that of a little girl, she will be raped and beheaded. A total of five children and adolescents will be murdered between 1963 and 1965. They record the cries of pain before listening to them again during their intimate relationships. In 1966, they were sentenced to life for three murders before Ian was declared a psychopath in 1985. Brady died in 2017 in a mental hospital. Hindley died in prison in 2002.

Ray and Faye Copeland

The couple own a farm in Missouri. They hire seasonal workers whom they pay with fake checks before killing them. In all, they will commit five murders. But they are suspected in the disappearance of seven other people who have never been found.

Denounced by a fisherman, they were sentenced to death in 1990, before finally being sentenced to life imprisonment. They are the oldest couple to have been sentenced to death in the United States.
