Hundreds of customers strolled Saturday along the colorful alleys of the Jasmin nursery, in the borough of Saint-Laurent. “It’s super busy. By 8 a.m. there was a line of people waiting to get in. Since 9 a.m., the parking lot has been filled. The world is there,” says Jean-Philippe Jasmin, co-owner. ” [Les clients] come for lots of vegetables, trees, bags of soil and mulch. April wasn’t a great month, so there’s a lot of catching up to do,” he said.

“We found everything we were looking for. We have just redone our patio, so we are going to plant new perennials,” says Monique Dessureault. “It’s a great joint project,” added Alain Lépine alongside him.

Yercho Cholakian took advantage of the sunny weather on Saturday to indulge his passion for gardening at the Marcelin-Wilson community garden in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. “For people like us who live in a condo, the community garden allows us to breathe, relax and have a good time with the family,” he says. Of course, we spend more money than we save, but it’s such a beautiful moment. »

At the Birri kiosk in the Jean-Talon market, we were busy. “The mild weather and Mother’s Day increase traffic. The stars are well aligned,” exclaims co-owner Lino Birri (right). Around him, about twenty employees are busy responding to customer requests. “It’s going to be a busy week,” adds Francesco Baldassarre (left), who has worked there for twenty years.

A few meters further on, imposing baskets of colorful flowers carefully chosen by Marilou Grégoire-Blais (on the right) were placed on a cart. “Today I’m coming for Mother’s Day, but I’m still waiting a week or two before I start in my garden,” says the one who went to the market with her friend and neighbor, Katrin Hauschild. .
