Two Ways to Enjoy Tulip Month

This text is part of the special book Plaisirs

May undoubtedly rhymes with tulip. It’s the perfect time to gift these spring flowers to the mothers in our lives — or to yourself! And why limit yourself to a simple bouquet? Two ways to take full advantage of it.

The Tulip Festival in Ottawa

From May 11 to 22, the nation’s capital is putting on its most colorful clothes for the biggest tulip festival in the world. During the 11 days of this annual event that has become a tradition, the crowds come to admire the impressive tulip beds. Head to Commissioners Park, where multicolored beds of 300,000 tulips adorn the Rideau Canal’s Dows Lake.

The tulip is featured in many ways during the festivities: exhibition around the historical gift of tulips at the origin of the festival, sale of flowers and works of art, playground for children, special guided tours, visits virtual screenings, open-air film screenings, sound and light shows in the evening and a night walk to admire the illuminated flowerbeds are notably on the program.

U-pick

Why not create your own bouquet, directly in the field? The pick-your-own season is now launched in the two branches of Tulipes.ca, in Laval and Boucherville, as more than 600,000 tulips have bloomed this year. Before leaving with your bouquet, it is above all an opportunity to take a walk and admire the huge colorful field! Online ticket reservation.
