Queues are getting longer in driving schools due to the lack of inspectors. Report in Vienne, where passing your driving license has become a real obstacle course.

At 21, Jade Hajdamaka, a student living in Poitiers (Vienne), is doing her 23rd hour of driving this Saturday, May 13. “I would have liked to pass my license in June-July, but I discovered not long ago that it was tight, and that if I pass my license, it would be more in August”, she laments. In Vienne, places are more and more expensive. With two inspector departures in four years, there would be a lack of around 130 places per week today.

Concern shared by all professionals in the sector

“It is not tenable for driving schools, not tenable for driving license inspectors, and especially for candidates”, comments Aurore Ferrand-Rousseau, manager of the “La Gibauderie” driving school. The concern is shared by all professionals in the sector. “We are in May, and we are starting to fill October, because all the previous months are already full”, explains Laura Laverré, secretary at the Pont-Neuf driving school. Some candidates are even referred to other departments.
