(Toronto) Cineplex saw its first-quarter loss narrow from the same period last year, while its revenues rose nearly 50%.
The movie theater operator posted a loss of $30.2 million, or 48 cents per share, for the quarter ended March 31.
That result compared with a loss of 42.2 million, or 67 cents per share, for the first three months of 2022.
Quarterly revenue totaled 341.0 million, up from 228.7 million last year.
A total of nearly 9.8 million moviegoers visited Cineplex theaters in the first quarter, up from nearly 6.7 million a year earlier.
Box office revenue per customer was $12.63, up from $12.00 last year, while foodservice revenue also increased from $8.85 to $8. $.82.
