The members of K-pop group BTS will publish their memoirs in July in South Korea and the United States, their American publisher announced on Thursday (May 11th). The book, titled Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS (Beyond History: Memories of BTS’s 10 Years), was written by South Korean journalist Kang Myeong-seok and members of the boy band, according to the publishing house.
The boy band is considered South Korea’s most important cultural phenomenon. The band fills stadiums all over the world and tops the music charts. The seven members of BTS thus bring billions to the country’s economy and gather a large community of fans known as ARMY. BTS’s memoir, comprising 544 pages, will be released on July 9, according to the Amazon site. A date in the form of a tribute, since it will mark the tenth anniversary of the creation of ARMY.
From speculation to revelation
“Who’s impatient? (…) #bookBTS”wrote the American publisher Flatiron Books Thursday, May 11 on Instagram, sharing an article about the future book in question. “I can’t wait to read the book… It’s so cool to be able to look back on the last ten years with BTS”rejoiced a fan on Twitter.
Speculation was rife on social media and online forums regarding the possible release of a book written by a celebrity following the appearance a few days ago on sales platforms of an untitled book from the house. edition to be published in July, reports the washington post. Internet users had speculated that it could be a work by American singer Taylor Swift. After pre-orders opened, the mystery book even topped the bestseller charts at Amazon and bookseller Barnes and Noble.
BTS is currently on hiatus to allow the group members to do solo projects and two of them are doing their mandatory military service. In South Korea, all able-bodied men must indeed serve at least 18 months in the army. For several years, there has been a debate about whether BTS deserved an exemption because of the status of its members. Jin, the eldest of the group, was the first to get started in 2022, followed by J-Hope in April 2023.
