Emmanuel Macron announced this afternoon that he was going to rethink the ecological bonus, by supporting batteries produced in Europe, to better help the French automotive industry. The point with Arnaud Boutet, on the set of 19/20.

How to support the French automotive industry? This is the question posed by Emmanuel Macron, who decided to rethink the ecological bonus of the State. The Head of State announced it this afternoon. From now on, batteries produced in Europe will be supported, “with a view to green, so-called carbon-free production, which respects environmental standards. No question of helping Chinese or American batteries”, says Arnaud Boutet. To receive the bonus when buying an electric car, “models made in Europe will be preferred”continues the journalist.

Rising sales of electric cars

However, there is still a long way to go before a large majority of French people adopt electric cars. Today, there are 760,000 electric cars in circulation in the territory, although this is increasing. “If we take the sales of new vehicles last year, this represents 13%. Electric cars are quite expensive, between 20,000 and 90,000 euros”, develops Arnaud Boutet. There is an ecological bonus of 5,000 euros, if the car costs less than 47,000 euros, and if it weighs less than 2.4 tons. “This bonus concerned all new cars, whether foreign or French, and that is what will change”concludes the journalist.
