43-year-old woman shot dead in Marseille

A 43-year-old woman was shot dead on the night of Wednesday May 10 to Thursday May 11 during a shooting in the northern districts of Marseille, learned France Télévisions from a police source. The victim was in his car, parked in the Saint-Joseph Vieux Moulin housing estate (14th arrondissement), with his daughter. The circumstances of his death are unknown at this stage.

Homicides have multiplied in recent months in the second city of France. Several took place in particular in the 14th arrondissement, around the drug sales point of Vieux-Moulin and the cities of La Paternelle and Micocouliers. At the beginning of April, after three shootings which had killed three people including a 16-year-old teenager, the Marseille prosecutor had mentioned a “vendetta logic” between rival gangs reigning over drug trafficking.

The year 2022 had already been particularly deadly in the Bouches-du-Rhône, with 32 victims of organized gang homicides, including 28 in Marseille, according to figures from the prosecution. The majority were directly “related to drug trafficking”had specified the police headquarters.
