(Ottawa) Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre accuses the government of erasing veterans from Canadian history. The image of the Vimy memorial will no longer appear in the new passport unveiled on Wednesday.
“They erased Vimy Ridge to put a picture of a squirrel eating a nut,” Poilievre quipped during question period.
“They erased Terry Fox, a guy who crossed the country to fight cancer, to put a man who rakes the leaves and they erased Quebec City to put what seems to be a child prime minister swimming in Lake Harrington. Could the Prime Minister be more out of touch with Canadians? »
“There is no one who will take lessons from the Conservative Party on how we treat veterans,” retorted Mr. Trudeau. They were always very quick to use them as a symbol or for op pics, but they cut veteran service offices across the country. »

In addition to modifying the illustrations that adorn its pages, the government has added new security features to prevent counterfeiting and tampering.
