Journalist Arman Soldin covered the conflict in Ukraine on the ground for Agence France-Presse. He was the victim of a fatal Russian rocket hit on Tuesday, May 9.

For more than a year, Arman Soldin showed the horror of a war that ended up costing him his life. Aged 32, this Franco-Bosnian journalist for the France-Presse agency was killed in Ukraine, near Bakhmout, by Russian rocket fire. His friend Robin Panfili, also a journalist, describes him as “very sunny”a person who knew “to make laugh”, “reassure” and “tell stories like no one else”.

The journalist recently confided his fears

President Emmanuel Macron underlined his courage, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense posted a message of condolence. Over the past few days, Arman Soldin confided his fears. In a video, he narrowly avoids rocket fire near Bakhmout. A “pure terror”, in his words. A total of 11 members of reporting teams have been killed since the start of the war in Ukraine, including three Frenchmen.
