(Salerno) World champion Remco Evenepoel, big favorite of the Tour of Italy, fell on Wednesday during the fifth stage of the Giro, when a dog crossed the road, before leaving, helped by several team members.
On a road made slippery by the rain, the Belgian went to the ground more than 150 km from the finish, in a village crossing without difficulty.
On the television images, a dog can be seen crossing the road just before and causing the fall of an Evenepoel teammate at Soudal-Quick Step.
The second in the general classification then fell in turn to find himself on the side, in the gravel.
He took a little time to get up, before changing bikes and setting off again, accompanied by several team members.
Without too much seriousness apparently since the Belgian gave a thumbs up in front of the camera, before returning to the peloton a few minutes later.
