Lionel Messi is back in training with PSG after his suspension ended

Lionel Messi was back in training with his Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammates on Monday, after the prestigious French club ended his suspension.

PSG announced Messi’s return on their website, posting a photo of the Argentine running with a ball at his feet on the lawn of the Parisian team’s training complex.

The team hasn’t officially announced the end of Messi’s suspension, but a person familiar with the situation has revealed to The Associated Press that the Argentine star player has returned to training since his suspension has ended.

This person requested anonymity as he is not authorized to discuss this issue publicly.

The move means the World Cup champion will likely be eligible for the next Ligue 1 game against Ajaccio on Saturday. With four games to play this season, PSG dominate the general classification, six points ahead of Lens.

The former FC Barcelona star missed a training session last Monday after taking part in a promotional tour in Saudi Arabia, and the French club announced his suspension the following day. PSG did not specify the length of their suspension, but French media said it would be two weeks.

Messi later apologized to the squad and his teammates, after taking part in a trip without PSG’s permission.

Messi’s contract with PSG will expire after this season. Many rumors send him to Inter Miami, Major League Soccer, FC Barcelona or even a Saudi club.
