A major fire broke out late Saturday evening at the Top Bedding factory, in the municipality of Berthier-sur-Mer, in Chaudière-Appalaches, causing heavy financial losses to the building.
Firefighters spent many hours on the ground trying to put out the blaze, which started around 10 p.m. Saturday. Top Bedding is a factory specializing in wood shavings. The building would be a total loss, according to the firefighter in charge of operations Olyvié Martineau.
In addition to the Berthier-sur-Mer fire department, around fifty firefighters from Saint-Raphaël, Montmagny and Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse, among others, came as reinforcements.
No cause could be determined in this fire. The investigation will continue over the next few days to try to shed light on this incident.
No one was injured in this incident.
