Ed Sheeran releases a new album, more intimate and acoustic

On this new album, – (Subtract)following + (More)× (Multiply), ÷ (Divide) And = (Equals), a series started twelve years ago, the ambition of Ed Sheeran could not be clearer. Just a guitar and his voice, a far cry from the bloated and often swelling hits of recent years.

Fourteen titles were selected from dozens of others, written in recent years, stripped bare little by little, while the singer with multiple records and millions of sales, revealed what was eating away at him: depression, the death of his best friend, and a tumor developed by his pregnant wife. All of this reset his writing process, and prompted him to call on an indie-rock star, Aaron Dessner of The National. The result is simple and touching.
