Using public transport, without limit, by paying a season ticket, is the new concept in Germany. A flat rate of 49 euros per month gives access to all public transport in all German cities. It therefore concerns all trains, except high-speed ones, metros, buses, water buses and even car-sharing services. The first users met, Monday, May 1, in Berlin (Germany) seem to be quite convinced.
Nearly 750,000 subscriptions already sold
“I made my calculation with this new ticket valid throughout Germany, I will save a lot of money, I who travel often”says a woman. “We don’t have a car, so it’s a very good solution for us. I’m sure we’ll be using it a lot as a family.”, said another. The German government has two objectives with this new concept. The first is ecological: encouraging Germans to abandon their cars. The second is economic: fighting against soaring transport prices. Nearly 750,000 subscriptions have already been sold.
