The CDPDJ opens an investigation into the teacher who yelled in class

The Commission for Human Rights and Youth Rights (CDPDJ) is opening its own investigation into the screaming teacher at École des Grands-Vents.

This teacher who shouted at her students was suspended, while the Center de services scolaire des Mille-Îles (CSSMI) announced last week that it had replaced the management of the establishment.

An administrative investigation was triggered, then another is being conducted by the municipal police department.

On Monday, the CDPDJ said in a press release that it had opened its own investigation into “the obligation to report staff and the school service center”.

The Commission claims to have been alerted by the media to “situations of verbal and physical abuse by a teacher towards her students”.

“The CDPDJ has opened an investigation on its own initiative into the possible failure to report […] of the Center de service scolaire des Mille-Îles who would have been made aware of the events, ”it is indicated.

Article 39 of the Youth Protection Act provides that the obligation to report to the DYP is incumbent on “any employee of an establishment, any teacher”.

The latter must make a report when he has reasonable cause to believe that the security or development of a child is or may be considered to be in danger.

The Commission made a point of recalling, on Monday, that the protection of children is “everyone’s business in Quebec”.

Its investigation aims to verify whether the alleged facts are true and whether the rights of children have been respected. It also aims to ensure that measures are taken so that such a situation does not happen again.

It is specified that the investigation will not be public, although the CDPDJ may choose to make public certain recommendations that are of a “systemic” nature.

The CDPDJ says in the statement that it will not comment further on the investigation “for purposes of protection and confidentiality, and in order to respect the right to privacy of children”.

Remember that compromising recordings of the teacher – who had 25 years of experience – have recently been widely broadcast in the media, shocking the entire political class.

You could clearly hear the lady screaming and screaming in class, scolding her first-year students.

During question period in the National Assembly last Tuesday, the Liberal spokesperson for education, Marwah Rizqy, indicated that she had information that “the school service centre, the lawyer and the human resources know minimally since January for verbal abuse and assault”.
