The Quebec Ministry of the Family will invest more than 3.5 million dollars during the year in 120 projects intended to improve the “educational quality” of educational childcare services, both in the family environment and in ” facility “.
These projects aim to develop tools or strategies that will enable management teams, educators and those responsible for a daycare service “to improve the educational quality in their environment”, indicates in a press release the office of the Minister of the Family, Suzanne Roy.
Following a call for projects last winter, 111 home childcare coordinating offices will benefit from a maximum grant of $25,000 to improve “educational quality” in these daycare centres. According to the ministry, several projects relate in particular to “pedagogy by nature, the management of emotions and emotional support”.
For “facility” childcare services, nine projects presented by four national associations and two non-profit organizations will receive a total of more than $1.1 million. These projects aim in particular at “the development of tools on the quality of interactions” and “individualized support for childcare services that have not reached all the thresholds required in the context of the evaluation of educational quality”.
In its 2019-2023 Strategic Plan, the Ministère de la Famille wanted to focus its efforts “to improve the quality of educational childcare services” by 2023.
