This information has been confirmed at Press by government sources at the start of the day, two hours before the publication of the traditional report, which must be unveiled at 11 a.m.

Thus, these 1821 cases bring the daily average to 1391. The trend is upward by 40% over a period of one week. The total of cases reported Thursday also exceeds the peak seen in the third wave, which was 1,754 cases.

In the Quebec network, there has been an increase of 13 hospitalizations in 24 hours, or 35 new admissions and 22 discharges. Currently, 255 patients remain hospitalized for COVID-19.

The majority of cases are believed to come from unvaccinated children or children aged 5 to 11 who have not yet been vaccinated, thus transmitting the virus to their parents.
