(Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu) The 43-year-old man arrested Sunday in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu was charged Monday with the first degree murder of his mother.
Joël Brosseau appeared this morning at the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse. He will remain detained until further procedures scheduled for Wednesday.
It was around 9:15 a.m. on Sunday that the local police department received a call to go to a residence on Avenue des Pins in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, in the Saint-Luc sector.
The police found the body of the 67-year-old woman, the mother of Joël Brosseau, Judith Igreda, on the spot.
The woman worked as a nurse in a hospital not far from her home, said a neighbor met on the spot.
The suspect was arrested at the scene, but court documents say he has no fixed address.
The man is not known to police circles.
