“It’s unworthy of a country like ours.“, denounced this Monday on franceinfo Marie Dosé, lawyer for families of women and children detained in the camps in northeastern Syria, about the government decree creating a file to allow a “better coordination“of the care of French minors returning from Iraq and Syria.”I can only denounce it“, she added, believing to see there”a form of stigma“for those children who”are just victims“.
Franceinfo: Do you denounce the setting up of this file?
Marie Dose: “I can only denounce it. I am even extremely shocked that France has chosen to put children on file that it has let perish, that it has abandoned in open-air prisons for more than four years. France has been condemned three times for the abandonment of these children. She is now giving them the gift of filing them after these four years of hell lived in Syria. No filing of a child can respond to an imperative of protection. actually acts to stigmatize them a little more”.

Do you see it as a form of presumption aimed at these children?
“No, I see it as a form of stigmatization, as if France had not stigmatized these children enough by refusing their protection and making them pay the price for their parents’ fault. I am really deeply outraged and I I have contacted the Defender of Rights. Several of us are considering an appeal against this decree to try to obtain its cancellation. All this smacks of the file of unaccompanied minors which was set up a few years ago. C is unworthy of a country like ours”.
Does the argument of improving care not hold up in your opinion?
“We are monitoring the care very closely. My practice is seized concerning about fifty children. I can assure you that this care needs to be improved but that it needs everything except a file This is not the priority and it is even counterproductive. We need educators, to bring these children closer to their families. It is not by sticking these children that care will be beneficial, really not ” .
How are these returns going?
“They are going as well as possible. The important thing is above all to get these children out of the hell of the camps. The care can be improved. It is imperative that the children be taken to detention more often so that the link with their mothers are not brutalized by a separation that is difficult to bear. I remind you that these children are only victims. In this case, why not file the children of political refugees who have also lived in war zones and who have been exposed to the worst traumas? What country is setting up child victim files?
