(Montreal) The rivers flowing into the St. Lawrence Valley remain under surveillance on Monday as Environment Canada predicts heavy precipitation during the day.
The regions of Quebec, Charlevoix, Mauricie, Estrie, Montérégie, Centre-du-Québec and Lanaudière are targeted by a heavy rain warning, issued early Monday morning by Environment Canada.
It is expected that an additional 10 to 15 millimeters of rain could fall within the next 24 hours.
“Heavy rains can cause flash flooding and water accumulation on the roads. Flooding is possible in places in the lowlands,” we warn.
On the flood monitoring site of the Ministère de la Sécurité publique, there are average floods in certain waterways and bodies of water, including the Ouareau River, the North River, the Ottawa River and Lake Maskinongé.
More than fifteen other waterways are considered to be in minor flooding and a dozen others are under close surveillance.
