Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu | An inanimate body found in a residence, a man arrested

A man was arrested Sunday in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, in Montérégie, after the discovery of an inanimate body in a residence. The police have opened an investigation and are currently treating the case as a “suspicious death”.

According to Sergeant Jérémie Levesque, a call was first received at 911 around 9:15 a.m. At the end of the line, the caller asked the police to go to a residence on Avenue des Pins, in the area Saint Luke.

At the scene, the first patrol officers found an inanimate body and arrested a man. The victim, whose age or sex has not been confirmed, was transported to a hospital center, where his death was unfortunately declared by the health authorities.

“We are currently investigating a suspicious death file,” Sergeant Levesque said on Sunday.

As the victim’s family has not yet been informed of the situation, the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police Department (SPSJR) says it will not give any further details on this case at this time.

To let the investigators do their work of collecting clues, a vast police perimeter was erected in the area. A portion of Avenue des Pins has also been temporarily closed. Potential witnesses could be met during the next few hours.
