Laval police handcuffed three individuals and seized more than $1 million in goods and drugs in an online illicit drug trade case last week.
On April 12, the suspects – aged 21, 29 and 33 – were arrested by the Service de police de Laval (SPL). Two of them were met by investigators before being released by way of summons.
Searches carried out in two vehicles, three residences and businesses located in Laval, Montreal and Blainville led to the laying of hands, in particular, on 33,210 grams of dried cannabis, as well as significant quantities of cocaine, crack, crystal meth, methamphetamine, Xanax and psilocybin.
In total, the value of the seized goods would thus amount to more than a million dollars, indicated the police force.
“It should also be noted that certain forms of cannabis could be attractive to young people because they looked like food sold on the shelves of food stores,” it added in a press release.
This is also the first file of its kind on which the SPL investigators are working.
“This investigation was carried out as part of the Accès-Cannabis program, a concerted action set up in the fall of 2018 by the Government of Quebec and coordinated by the Ministry of Public Security, aimed at intensifying the repression of the supply of cannabis. illicit cannabis in order to reduce its accessibility on the Quebec market, particularly among young people,” said the Laval police.
